Intel Donates Workstations to WNCG

image of intel-donated workstationAt the close of 2002, WNCG received a donation of 11 top-of-the-line Dell workstations from Intel Corporation. The Dell Precision 340 workstations are powered by 2.6 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processors coupled with 256 MB of memory, 80 GB of disk storage, and 17" flat panel displays.

WNCG professors Jeff Andrews, Robert Heath, Ted Rappaport, and Sanjay Shakkottai each received two of the workstations. These systems are being employed to carry out simulations of advanced CDMA architectures, MIMO systems, and fluid modeling of network traffic among other research areas. One system was deployed in the Network Engineering Lab where it is being used to support a series of senior design projects that employ the new National Instruments Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite, ELVIS.
