WNCG Student Gains Experience from Industry Internship Intel Laboratories in Hillsboro, Oregon is 30 minutes away from the big city of Portland. It is a great place to live. People can access year-round skiing on Mt. Hood, and the spectacular Oregon beaches, only about an hour away. That is where WNCG graduate student, Kyungtae Han, interned with Intel from July to December of this year. “My intern work started with assessing various algorithms for mitigating radio frequency interference (RFI) for Intel wireless platform. After selecting an efficient algorithm based on fixed-point analysis which is related to my dissertation topic, I developed a prototype in collaboration with other groups. I demonstrated the algorithm on a MIMO-OFDM development platform with FPGA, and completed this project within 5 months successfully. “I really learned a lot from my internship at Intel, with the opportunity to give presentations, publish and even create patents. I would like to express thanks to Intel for this opportunity and especially, my mentor, Keith R. Tinsley, who guided me to the successful project completion.” Kyungtae Han received his BS degree from Korea University in 1996, and his MS degree from the Seoul National University in 1998. He enrolled at UT Austin for his Ph.D. studies in Fall 2002. He is advised by Professor Brian L. Evans, and plans to graduate with his Ph.D.EE degree during the 2006 calendar year. | ||
