Vikrant Venkateshwar Interns with Intrinsity Vikrant Venkateshwar, a WNCG masters student, spent his summer in 2003 as an intern for Intrinsity, Inc. Intrinsity is a fabless semiconductor company based in Austin, TX. Venkateshwar investigated the feasibility of a real-time software implementation of different modulation and coding schemes using the FastMATH™ processor, which is derived from Intrinsity's patented Fast14™ technology for use with standard CMOS processes. To investigate the practicability of a software implementation, Venkateshwar studied the performance of the Viterbi decoder under different channel conditions and modulation schemes. The performance was compared with a reference framework coded in native Matlab code. The results of this work were presented at the 2003 WNCG Wireless Networking Symposium during one of the technical sessions on October 24, 2003. For more information about the symposium, please see the related article. Venkateshwar's internship with Intrinsity has been extended into the Fall semester of 2003, and he is currently developing test frameworks for performing functionality evaluations of other communication blocksets (e.g. CRC24, Turbo encoder/decoder). Venkateshwar is a second year WNCG Masters student, and is currently pursuing his degree under the guidance of Prof. Jeffrey G. Andrews in the area of interference cancellation for OFDM systems. |
