Freescale

Gavin Woods is Vice President and General Manager of the RF Division of Freescale Semiconductor’s Networking & Computing Systems Group (NCSG). A member of the RF leadership team for several years, Gavin previously served in operations management and program management roles. He has led the efforts that have resulted in NCSG’s continued RF industry leadership position within the cellular wireless infrastructure market.

As RF Operations Manager for Freescale (then known as Motorola’s semiconductor products sector), Gavin strengthened key customer relationships and continued the development of cost-effective, high-performance RF products for the infrastructure market. Prior to that, Gavin was a program manager for the wireless infrastructure division, where he championed the development of the HV5 LDMOS technology platform and successfully led the LDMOS technology transfer from MOS6 to MOS9 ahead of schedule and with no business interruption. Before that, Gavin served as Operations Manager for MOS21, leading the on-time, under-budget production of 200mm silicon and developing a model for fab/lab cooperation. He led the team that expanded the BP3 wafer fab, which doubled volume while reducing cycle times in order to meet the demands of Motorola’s paging business.

Gavin holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Cambridge University in England . He has been married to Susan for more than twenty years. They have two children, Peter and Alison.
