Professor Gustavo de Veciana presented a keynote speech titled 'Rethinking Video Transport' at the 14th IEEE International Symposium on a World of Wireless, Mobile and Multimedia Networks. He discussed some of the core aspects of resource allocation and quality adaptation algorithms for video transport. The core of his presentation focused on research being conducted at The University of Texas at Austin by faculty and students with industry collaboration and in particular, support of the Video Aware Wireless Networks program sponsored by Intel and Cisco Systems, Inc. De Veciana also participated in a panel called 'Wireless Dense Networks: Simple Rescaling or Change of Paradigm' alongside Albert Banchs (IMDEA Networks, Spain), Claudio Cicconetti (INTCS Italy) and Edward Knightly (Rice University). Dr. Gustavo de Veciana is a professor with WNCG, and he is currently the Joe J. King Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research focuses on the analysis and design of wireless and wireline telecommunication networks, architectures and protocols to support sensing and pervasive computing, applied probability, and queueing theory.
