Prof. Haris Vikalo Among Promoted ECE Faculty

WNCG faculty member Haris Vikalo has been promoted to full professor. Vikalo’s was one of five promotions celebrated by the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department (ECE) this week; Profs. Deji Akinwande and Ali Yilmaz were also promoted to Professor, while Prof. Mohit Tiwari made tenure as an Associate Professor, and Prof. Mark McDermott was promoted to Professor of Practice.

Former Postdoc Accepts Faculty Position at Tel-Aviv University

Former WNCG Postdoctoral Researcher, Dr. Yakir Hadad, recently joined the faculty in the School of Electrical Engineering and the Department of Physical Electronics at Tel-Aviv University in Israel. His role as a tenure track Senior Lecturer is the equivalent of a tenure track Assistant Professor in the United States’ academic system.

Prof. Robert Heath Moderates Brooklyn 5G Summit Panel

5G technology will play a major role in the future of automotive systems. Exactly how this technology will be implemented is still up for debate. To discuss current research and possible directions for 5G, industry experts met in New York for the Brooklyn 5G Summit in April 2016. The annual summit, jointly organized by Nokia Networks, the NYU WIRELESS Center and the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, discussed next steps for making 5G a commercial reality, which includes channel models, millimeter wave communication, regulatory aspects and the evolving Internet-of-Things (IoT) space.
