Students Lakshay Narula and Matthew Murrian Receive Qualcomm Innovation Fellowships

Today in Austin, pedestrians and cyclists account for more than 50% of all traffic deaths, even though they only make up about 20% of travelers on the roads. While the push towards automated vehicles could reduce these deaths, unless vehicles receive help from pedestrians, automated cars could become too cautious and risk avoidant to function efficiently.

Profs. Bovik, Heath and students Receive IEEE Signal Processing Society Paper Awards

Texas ECE professors Alan C. Bovik and Robert Heath, along with their former students, have received two IEEE Signal Processing Society Paper Awards. This is the second time in four years that Texas ECE garners at least two awards, including a major award, at the IEEE SPS ICASSP conference. Established in 1948, the IEEE Signal Processing Society is the world’s foremost society for signal processing scientists and professionals. The IEEE SPS serves its members through high quality publications, conferences, technical and educational activities, and leadership opportunities.
