Researchers are Developing Analytics to Combat Dementia Using Mobile Sensor Data

WNCG professor Edison Thomaz and fellow researchers from The University of Texas at Austin have received a 4-year R01 grant award from the National Institute of Health (NIH) to study "Digital Biomarkers and Analytics for Cognitive Impairment with Mobile and Wearable Sensing." Jared Benge and Justin Rousseau from the Dell Medical School and Rosemary Lester-Smith of the UT Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences are collaborating on the project.

WNCG Student Awarded UT NXP Foundation Fellowship

WNCG student Matthew Faw was one of two Texas ECE PhD students selected as 2020-2021 recipients of UT NXP Foundation Fellowship awards. The NXP Foundation Fellowship program provides one-year fellowships to support third or fourth year PhD students pursuing research in machine learning, artificial intelligence, millimeter wave radar and advanced microprocessing or microcomputing technology. The NXP Foundation aims "to develop strong youth STEM programs and encourage innovation that makes a difference in the world."
