Profs. Bovik, Heath and students Receive IEEE Signal Processing Society Paper Awards

Dec. 13, 2016
Texas ECE professors Alan C. Bovik and Robert Heath, along with their former students, have received two IEEE Signal Processing Society Paper Awards. This is the second time in four years that Texas ECE garners at least two awards, including a major award, at the IEEE SPS ICASSP conference. Established in 1948, the IEEE Signal Processing Society is the world’s foremost society for signal processing scientists and professionals. The IEEE SPS serves its members through high quality publications, conferences, technical and educational activities, and leadership opportunities.

Prof. Joydeep Ghosh Gives Keynotes at WDDL2013 and DMH 2013

Sept. 3, 2013
Prof. Joydeep Ghosh of UT ECE was the keynote speaker at the inaugural Workshop on Divergences and Divergence Learning (WDDl), held in Atlanta, June 2013. In his talk, entitled "Learning Bregman Divergences for Prediction with Generalized Linear Models," which reflects joint work with ECE and WNCG student Sreangsu Acharrya,  an efficient approach to learning a broad class of predictive models was introduced. What is most remarkable about this approach is that model parameters can be estimated even when the loss function is unknown.
