2023 WNCG Student Leadership Award

The Wireless Networking and Communications Group is home to some of the brightest minds at The University of Texas at Austin. The Student Leadership Award is presented annually to the student or students who best embody WNCG’s mission and values: academic excellence, leadership, service, and a commitment to innovative and collaborative research. The 2023 award went to two very deserving graduates: Drs. Joshua Ebenezer and Ian Roberts.

Sandeep Chinchali Joins WNCG

WNCG welcomes the newest faculty addition to the group: Dr. Sandeep Chinchali. Sandeep Chinchali joined the University of Texas in Fall 2021; he is an assistant professor and Fellow of the Jack Kilby/Texas Instruments Endowed Faculty Fellowship in Computer Engineering in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He is also a member of WNCG’s new research center, 6G@UT, and is a core member of the Texas Robotics Consortium.

WNCG Welcomes Two New Faculty

WNCG welcomes two new faculty for the fall semester: Kyeji Kim and Atlas Wang.   Hyeji Kim comes to WNCG having joined Texas ECE as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2020.

Each year, WNCG presents the Student Leadership Award to an outstanding student—or students—who not only displays excellence in research and academic activities, but also embodies the spirit of the group’s mission to create a collaborative research environment. This year, the award goes to two students: Ahmad AlAmmouri and Jessica Hoffmann.

WNCG Welcomes Two New Faculty

WNCG continues to grow; this spring, Assistant Professor Jonathan Tamir and Professor José del R. Millán were welcomed to the group. [[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_preview","fid":"1761","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"180","width":"180"}}]] Dr. Jonathan Tamir holds a joint appointment with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Dell Medical School’s Department of Diagnostic Medicine. He is also affiliated with the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences.

Prof. Aryan Mokhtari Joins WNCG

As the new academic year begins, WNCG welcomes a new faculty member. Assistant Professor Aryan Mokhtari joins the group, having worked most recently as a Postdoctoral Associate in the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS) at MIT. He was one of nine new faculty to join Texas ECE this fall.

Travis Cuvelier Receives 2019 WNCG Student Leadership Award

As an interdisciplinary center for research and education, WNCG is home to many talented minds. The group has grown steadily since its inception over 15 years ago and now comprises 23 faculty members and over 150 students and research staff. The upward trends don’t stop simply at the number of group members. Over the years, WNCG has built an exceptional network of industry partners, increased the number of its sponsored research projects yielding groundbreaking results, and successfully graduated Masters and Ph.D. students who go on to a wide range of careers in industry and academia.

Prof. Nanshu Lu of Texas Aerospace Engineering Joins WNCG

WNCG is happy to announce our newest faculty member, Prof. Nanshu Lu! Prof. Lu joins us from The University of Texas at Austin’s Departments of Aerospace and Biomedical Engineering. She has been with the University of Texas at Austin since 2011 and currently holds the title of Associate Professor. Prof. Lu's research focuses on the mechanics and manufacture of flexible, stretchable, and bio-integrated electronics. Her research team, comprised of 11 PhD students and one postdoctoral researcher, concentrates on four major areas: mechanics of flexible and stretchable structures,

Francesco Monticone Receives WNCG Student Leadership Award

Each year, WNCG faculty nominate one outstanding student to receive the WNCG Student Leadership Award. The award is presented to a student based on their cumulative contributions to the center, including their representation of WNCG to the greater community, their mentorship of fellow students, their research visibility and recognition from external organizations.

Prof. Evdokia Nikolova joins WNCG

April 23, 2014
WNCG welcomes new Assistant Professor Dr. Evdokia Nikolova to its lineup of world renowned faculty researchers.  Prof. Nikolova is the winner of a 2014 NSF CAREER Award and a 2013 Google Research Award. Her research on traffic-aware routing has been adapted in a vehicular cyber-physical system project CarTel at MIT.
