Prof. Alex Dimakis of Texas ECE has been named the 2018 recipient of the Information Theory Society James L. Massey award. The award recognizes outstanding achievement in research and teaching by young scholars in the Information Theory community based on the impact of their research in the field of Information Theory as well as their teaching contributions. The award is named in honor of James L. Massey, who was "an internationally acclaimed pioneer in digital communications and a revered teacher and mentor to an entire generation of communications engineers."

Prof. Alex Dimakis of Texas ECE will be one of the three keynote speakers at the 15th Canadian Workshop on Information theory to be held in Quebec City, Canada, June 11-14th. 

Texas ECE postdoctoral researcher Yakir Hadad has been named the recipient of the Leopold B. Felsen Award for Excellence in Electrodynamics from The European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP). The award was originally established jointly by the University of Siena and the University of Sannio, funded through a donation from Michael and Judy Felsen in fulfillment of the last wishes of their father, Professor Leo Felsen (1924-2005).  The main purpose of the EurAAP Felsen Award is "to keep alive Prof.
