About WNCG

The Wireless Networking and Communications Group (WNCG) is an interdisciplinary center for research and education at The University of Texas at Austin with an emphasis on industrial relevance.

Founded in 2002, the group includes 25 faculty from the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science. WNCG currently has over 130 graduate and undergraduate students as well as an ever-changing number of research scientists, postdoctoral fellows and industry visitors.

Mission

The mission of the WNCG is to create a collaborative environment that supports research, provides highly relevant education and opportunities, promotes technical innovation, imagination and entrepreneurship in wireless networking, communications and data sciences.

Visiting WNCG

WNCG is located on the 6th floor of the Engineering Education and Research Center (EER) at UT’s campus. 

WNCG is an academic research facility and is not able to accommodate visits from the general public.

  • Scheduled visitors should report to EER 6.804. 
  • Employees of our affiliate companies who wish to visit our labs should contact their company’s affiliate member. 
  • All scheduled visitors needing internet access or reimbursements for travel expenses (that WNCG has agreed to pay) must contact Karen Little at 512-471-2604.

  • From the airport, head west on Hwy. 71.
  • Take the exit for I-35N.
  • Take Exit 236.
  • Turn right, following the ramp for Lyndon B. Johnson Library/Dean Keeton.
  • Keep right at the fork and merge onto E Dean Keeton St.
  • EER is on Speedway, south of Dean Keeton.  
    • Nearby parking garages are San Jacinto Garage (turn left onto San Jacinto from Dean Keeton) & Speedway Garage (turn right onto Speedway from Dean Keeton). 
    • Paid street parking is also available near EER on Dean Keeton.
       

From I-35

  • Take the exit for Dean Keeton.
  • Head west on E. Dean Keeton.
  • EER is on Speedway, south of Dean Keeton.
  • Nearby parking garages are:
    • San Jacinto Garage (turn left onto San Jacinto from Dean Keeton)
    • Speedway Garage (turn right onto Speedway from Dean Keeton)
  • Paid street parking is also available near EER on Dean Keeton.

From Mopac

  • Take the 24th St/Windsor Rd exit and head east on Windsor Rd.
  • Proceed east on Windsor Road; it will become 24th St.
  • Turn left onto Guadalupe St.
  • Turn right onto Dean Keeton.
  • EER is on Speedway, south of Dean Keeton.  
  • Nearby parking garages are:
    • Speedway Garage (turn left onto Speedway from Dean Keeton)
    • San Jacinto Garage (turn right onto San Jacinto from Dean Keeton)
