WNCG Professors Jeffrey Andrews, Alan Bovik, Robert Heath and Sriram Vishwanath were recently included in the Thomson Reuters list of highly cited researchers for 2014. The list recognizes the world’s leading scientific minds.

Out of the seven Cockrell School professors honored with this title, four of them are WNCG faculty. Their inclusion in this list illustrates WNCG’s growing influence on the UT Austin community as well as on the global research landscape.

These WNCG researchers earned this distinction by writing the greatest number of reports officially designated by Essential Science IndicatorsSM as Highly Cited Papers—ranking among the top 1% most cited for their subject field and year of publication, earning them the mark of exceptional impact, according to Thomson Reuters.

Prof. Jeffrey Andrews was listed in computer science and engineering and has published on the topics of wireless communications, information and communication theory and stochastic geometry.

Prof. Al Bovik, listed in the engineering category, has published on the topics of image and signal processing and vision science.

Prof. Robert Heath was listed in the computer science and engineering categories for his publications on the topics of wireless communication, MIMO and communication theory.

Prof. Sriram Vishwanath was recognized in the computer science category and has published works on information theory, wireless networking and probabilistic algorithms.
