WNCG faculty member Jon Tamir has been named among the inaugural cohort of Oracle Research Fellows. The Oracle Research Fellows program identifies potentially transformative research proposals from current and future research luminaries, and provides them with the funding, Oracle Cloud computing and collaborative opportunities they need. Tamir will work to develop fast, standardized MRI reconstruction methods for faster and cheaper diagnosis and monitoring.
Assistant Professor Jon Tamir and his team at the Computational Sensing Imaging Lab are developing fast, robust and standardized MRI reconstruction methods that can be used across many institutions with disparate system hardware and clinical needs.
For this project, recent advances in deep learning will be tailored to MRI reconstruction, and an online public platform will be developed to help other institutions train collaborative models. The objective is to alleviate some of the drawbacks associated with this important diagnosis tool.
Jon Tamir is an assistant professor and a Fellow of the Jack Kilby/Texas Instruments Endowed Faculty Fellowship in Computer Engineering the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, with courtesy appointments in the Dell Medical School Department of Diagnostic Medicine and the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences.
His research focus spans computational medical imaging, signal processing, and machine learning, and applying advanced imaging and reconstruction techniques to MRI, with the goal of enabling real clinical adoption.
