WNCG Postdoctoral Associate Juan Sebastian Gomez-Diaz received the Junior Raj Mittra Travel Grant (RMTG) award to attend the 2015 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and North American Radio Science Meeting, which will take place in Vancouver, Canada this July.

The $750 award is granted to a postdoctoral researcher who received a PhD within the last five years and who pursues research in areas of traditional interest to the AP-S or URSI. The award winner’s abstract must also have been accepted for presentation at the meeting. Gomez-Diaz won the award for his research achievements in the electromagnetic field.

“The competition for the RMTG awards this year was exceptionally intense. We received many well-qualified applications,” Prof. Chi H. Chan, the 2015 RMTG Chair and member of the selection committee, states.

Other selection committee members included Prof. Stephen Gedney of the University of Colorado in Denver, Prof. Filippo Capolino of the University of California at Irvine and Prof. Ikmo Park of Ajou University.

“I feel honored to receive this award and I look forward to presenting our latest, exciting developments in the field of plasmonic nanophotonics and non-linear phenomena to the scientific community,” Gomez-Diaz states.

At WNCG, Gomez-Diaz is advised by Prof. Andrea Alù.
