Prof. Joydeep Ghosh Receives 2015 IEEE Computer Society Technical Achievement Award

Joydeep Ghosh, professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin's Cockrell School of Engineering, has been awarded the 2015 IEEE Computer Society’s Technical Achievement Award for his foundational contributions to multi-learner systems.

The Technical Achievement Award recognizes outstanding and innovative contributions to the fields of computer and information science and engineering or computer technology, within the past ten and not more than fifteen years.

Prof. Ghosh is the Schlumberger Centennial Chair Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. He is also the Director of the Intelligent Data Exploration and Analysis Laboratory (IDEAL). His research primarily deals with analyzing and mining complex data in various forms, including structured and semi-structured data, signal streams, images and videos. He has has published more than 400 papers and 50 book chapters, co-edited over 20 books, and received 16 best paper awards. He has served as co-founder of or consultant/advisor to several companies, small and large.

Prof. Ghosh received the award on June 3 at a ceremony organized by the IEEE Computer Society in Atlanta, Georgia.
