The Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS) is among the world’s leading language processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence conferences. The 2024 conference, held in Vancouver this past December, selected nearly 30 WNCG and 6G@UT students and alumni -- along with their advising faculty – to present their research.

The accepted papers included topics such as improving client selection in federated learning (FL) systems, exploring the role of softmax attention in in-context learning (ICL) within transformers, and bilevel optimization for convex smooth objective functions.

WNCG was also represented among the conference’s competitions: students and alumni helped organize and participated in competitions for NeurIPS 24, including Edge-LLMs: Edge-Device Large Language Model Competition and The NeurIPS 2024 LLM Privacy Challenge.

A full list of accepted papers can be found here.
