The Data-Supported Transportation Operations and Planning Center (D-STOP) from UT Austin met with representatives from local and state government, academia and industry in early April at a symposium designed to collaborate on the future of Smart Cities. The day-long event explored smart transportation systems, collaborative ecosystems, infrastructure-based technology, regional planning and analytics and connected vehicles through a series of panels featuring experts in the field.

WNCG Industrial Affiliates, faculty and students come together for an annual event focused on WNCG's greatest resource; a collection of some of the world's brightest students. Open House provides recruitment opportunities to Industrial Affiliate Members through close access to WNCG student research and resumes, as well as creates opportunities for one-on-one meetings with WNCG students. 

This year, five WNCG alumni and postdoctoral fellows accepted faculty positions throughout the country. Their acceptance continues the recent wave over the last few years of WNCG students and postdoctoral fellows finding permanent homes at some of the world’s leading institutions. Here’s a quick look at where a few of these alumni are headed, what they look forward to most about being a faculty member and how WNCG helped prepare them for their new ventures. AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas at Austin’s graduate schools in engineering, law, education and nursing are ranked among the Top 15 in the nation, and the university’s accounting program is No. 1 in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report's 2016 edition of “Best Graduate Schools,” released this morning.

Just like Edison turned on the light bulb, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and the Wireless Networking and Communications Group (WNCG) at UT Austin are switching kids on to the field of engineering. Part of a STEM program geared towards middle school and high school students, the Edison Lecture Series celebrates fun over fundamentals and enables kids to have fun with science.
