Sriram Vishwanath Named National Academy Of Inventor's Senior Member for 2023

Four faculty members at The University of Texas at Austin have been named to the National Academy of Inventors’ 2023 class of Senior Members. The honorees include three faculty members from the Cockrell School of Engineering and one from the College of Natural Sciences. They are Jennifer Maynard, Jason McLellan, Delia Milliron and Sriram Vishwanath.

Prof. Robert Heath of Texas ECE has been named a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). Election to NAI Fellow status is the highest professional distinction accorded to academic inventors who have demonstrated a prolific spirit of innovation in creating or facilitating outstanding inventions that have made a tangible impact on quality of life, economic development and the welfare of society.

WNCG Responds to FCC on Future of mmWave

As mobile wireless communications progress, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is exploring technologies that could lead to the emergence of a new generation of millimeter wave (mmWave) wireless spectrum by the year 2020. Before mmWave carrier frequencies can be applied to cellular networks, spectrum allocations and regulatory frameworks must be determined.

FCC Chairman Meets Technology Thought-Leaders in Austin

  This April, WNCG Prof. Jeffrey Andrews and other experts met with FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler to discuss spectrum innovation. The discussion between Wheeler and Andrews explored how current research can inform FCC and U.S. spectrum policies and research investments for a still-undefined 5G cellular standard.
