New WNCG Affiliate Viavi Solutions Drives Academic and Industry Research

WNCG affiliate company Viavi Solutions today announced its new 6G Forward program, designed to "provide vital expertise, technology, and funding to promising avenues of research, which may lead to breakthroughs for the next generation of wireless technology." VIAVI joined WNCG's Industrial Affiliate Program this summer, supporting the newly-launched 6G@UT center.

6G@UT Kick-Off Event Planned for 2022

Earlier this year, WNCG launched 6G@UT—a new research center imagining the future of wireless connectivity at the intersection of immersive sensing and machine learning. Planning has begun for an official kick-off event in 2022. The program will include the inaugural public 6G@UT Summit, which will host a variety of talks and panels featuring leaders in industry and academe. Keep an eye on our newsletters and the 6G@UT website for the latest Summit details as they're announced.

Tecas ECE Alumna Jette Henderson Receives 2019 AMIA Doctoral Dissertation Award

Texas ECE alumna Jette Henderson was announced as the recipient of the 2019 American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) Doctoral Dissertation Award: Honorable Mention. AMIA "is committed to the science and practice of informatics as it relates to clinical care, research, education, and policy."  Dr. Henderson's thesis was on “Learning and Validating Clinically Meaningful Phenotypes from Electronic Health Data.” She completed her PhD at Texas ECE in 2018 under the supervisions of Prof. Joydeep Ghosh.
