Four Texas ECE Faculty Named 2015 Highly Cited Researchers

Four Texas ECE faculty were recognized in Thomson Reuters’ list of Highly Cited Researchers in 2015 for exceptional impact in their fields. They are Prof. Jeffrey Andrews, Prof. Al Bovik, Prof. Robert Heath, and Prof. Sriram Vishwanath. This is the second consecutive year on the list for all four researchers.

Texas Engineering Receives Donation from Qualcomm

The Cockrell School of Engineering has received $1 million from Qualcomm Incorporated, furthering the company’s support of Texas Engineering over the past two years. This latest gift will provide funding for the construction of the new home of UT Austin’s Wireless Networking and Communications Group (WNCG), which will be housed within the Engineering Education and Research Center (EERC), opening in 2017.

Yesterday, state legislators and University of Texas leadership joined Cockrell School Dean Sharon L. Wood and hundreds of alumni, friends, corporate supporters and members of the Texas Engineering community to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Engineering Education and Research Center (EERC).

Four UT ECE Faculty Named Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researchers

Six professors and one adjunct associate professor from the Cockrell School of Engineering have been included in the Thomson Reuters list of Highly Cited Researchers for 2014. This list recognizes many of the world’s leading scientific minds, and the strong Cockrell School representation illustrates UT Austin’s growing influence on the global research landscape. Four of these professors come from the Deprtment of Electrical and Computer Engineering (UT ECE) and the Wireless Networking and Communications Group (WNCG).

WNCG Celebrates Qualcomm's EERC Donation

On April 16, 2014, representatives from Qualcomm visited the Cockrell School's Wireless Networking and Communications Group, which will have a new home in the Engineering Education and Research Center when it is completed in 2017. The Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin has received a $2 million donation from Qualcomm Incorporated to create a new home for UT Austin’s Wireless Networking and Communications Group (WNCG).
