Profs. Andrea Alù and Mikhail Belkin in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin have created a new nonlinear metasurface, or meta mirror, that could one day enable the miniaturization of laser systems.
WNCG Professors Jeffrey Andrews, Alan Bovik, Robert Heath and Sriram Vishwanath were recently included in the Thomson Reuters list of highly cited researchers for 2014. The list recognizes the world’s leading scientific minds.
Out of the seven Cockrell School professors honored with this title, four of them are WNCG faculty. Their inclusion in this list illustrates WNCG’s growing influence on the UT Austin community as well as on the global research landscape.
