WNCG student Debarati Kundu and her advisor, Prof. Brian Evans, have been selected for a top 10% paper award for the IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2015. The conference will take place in Quebec City, Canada in September. The paper "Full-Reference Visual Quality Assessment for Synthetic Images: A Subjective Study" deals with conducting a series of subjective experiments to aid in better understanding how humans perceive synthetic images encountered in computer graphics.

An incubator of cutting-edge technologies and digital creativity, SXSW Interactive 2015 featured five days of presentations and panels from the brightest minds in emerging technology. Special programs showcased new websites, video games and startup ideas from the community.

In 2013, 32,719 fatalities resulted from traffic crashes, most of which were caused by driver error. AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas at Austin’s graduate schools in engineering, law, education and nursing are ranked among the Top 15 in the nation, and the university’s accounting program is No. 1 in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report's 2016 edition of “Best Graduate Schools,” released this morning.

Modern communication systems rely on multiple antennas that enhance the performance of network links using a series of techniques known as Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO). However, new technology is needed to meet the demands of a rapidly increasing number of wireless devices and enable the next generation of cellular systems. Known as Massive MIMO, this adaptation of traditional MIMO techniques presents challenges to research and development teams worldwide.

Prof. Gustavo de Veciana, Cullen Trust Professor at the University of Texas at Austin and member of WNCG, has been appointed member of the Board of Trustees of IMDEA Networks Institute. The Board is the highest organ of governance, representation and administration of the Spanish research Institute.

On April 16, 2014, representatives from Qualcomm visited the Cockrell School's Wireless Networking and Communications Group, which will have a new home in the Engineering Education and Research Center when it is completed in 2017.
